Gaming consoles are basically machines that allow you to play your favorite, compatible video games. They have been around for a few decades now, with earlier versions being the Atari and Nintendo.

Luckily though, gaming consoles have came a long way since then and can now offer so much more than its previous counterparts. Teenagers love the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 because of the cutting-edge graphics and the intensity of the compatible games. The games for these consoles are becoming more realistic and make a player feel more like he or she is actually in the game. Not only are the games for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 pretty intense, but the gaming consoles in general is just as intense.

If you have a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, then chances are you will never need a computer again because these devices are basically gigantic computers. Both of these gaming consoles have the ability to connect to the Internet (a lot of games are played with an Internet connection so that they can be played with other players around the world), and the ability to browse the web.

The Nintendo Wii consoles are building up their own gathering of followers, only this time there are players from just about every age group; from the very young to the very old. The reason that the Nintendo Wii is so popular is because this game console allows you to interact with whatever game you are playing. The controller has motion sensing abilities that basically mean whenever you move the controller; the character on the screen performs the exact same action.

Take for example a tennis game; if you were to swing the controller in a backhand motion, then the tennis player on the screen is going to do the exact same thing and hopefully hit the incoming tennis ball. Since the Nintendo Wii makes you get up and move, they are showing up in more and more nursing homes to encourage the senior citizens there to exercise.

The PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii are all extremely popular gaming console among consumers. Regardless of which one is more popular, the important thing is that they are all incredible pieces of technology that are only going to serve as a foundation for more advanced gaming consoles to grow off of.
